what is new at The Storyteller's Compass

Welcome to The Storyteller’s Compass, a channel shaped like a well‑worn book you might stumble across at an estate sale—its pages filled with photos, memories, and stories waiting to be rediscovered. My name is Connie, a member of the baby boomer generation, and I’m your guide at The Storyteller's Compass. Today is March 21, 2026. We are moving right along here in Southern Indiana toward our spring/summer season.

Welcome, friends. This channel is a peaceful corner of YouTube dedicated to classic film, gentle storytelling, and the joy of remembering where we’ve come from. I use modern tools to help bring these stories forward, but the heart of every video is human: research, care, and a genuine love for the past.

If you enjoy kindness, nostalgia, and thoughtful reflections on movies, TV, and history, you’re in the right place. If not, that’s okay — the internet is big enough for everyone.

To keep this space welcoming, I remove comments meant only to insult, discourage, or derail the conversation. Respectful discussion is always welcome. Personal attacks are not.

Thank you to everyone who visits with an open heart. Your support helps keep this little corner of calm alive.

If you found my channel through a Short about a specific topic, take a moment to visit my Home page. Every Short is connected to a matching playlist filled with more short, easy‑to‑enjoy videos on that same theme.

Think of each Short as a doorway. Once you step inside, you’ll find the rest of the stories—longer videos, deeper dives, and more of the content that first caught your eye. Explore the playlist that matches your interest and enjoy the full journey.

Good morning, friends. I’m starting my day with one of my favorite comforts: I Love Lucy. I’ve watched these episodes more times than I can count, and I finally realized why—they bring me home.

The smell of eggs and bacon this morning pulled up a memory from deep in my mind: my dad holding me as an infant, rocking gently while Mom made breakfast. Safety. Warmth. Love.

That same feeling washes over me every time I watch Lucy and Ricky. These episodes are more than entertainment—they’re comfort, connection, and a doorway back to the earliest moments of my life.

Funny how a smell… or a sitcom… can carry us across decades in an instant.. Try it for yourself. Watch some of the movies and sitcoms from your childhood and find out what beautiful, comforting moments they bring back to you. On this channel, I hope to give you the same experiences I had with the I Love Lucy show.

Today I want to especially welcome all our new subscribers and give a huge shout out to our steady subscribers that continue to help this channel grow. If you love the Golden Age of Hollywood (like I do) you are certainly in the right place. I have tons of more movie reviews/insights to share with you as well as a continual growing list of Television History building on the same principles as my Golden Age of Hollywood sections little by little, day by day, uncovering how televsion evolved for our entertainment sitting in our livingrooms rather than going out to the theatre. How wonderful it is to now have access to both worlds, The Golden Age of Hollywood and Television.

I am going through each year researching for the programs that debuted on television, some short lived, some became staples for us. At this time you will find the television episodes in various categories/chapters/playlists on the channel.

I am excited to tell you about a 50 episode playlist I just started today, and like everything else I am doing on this channel, this chapter of the channel will continue to grow at a slow pace as well as all other chapters of our old worn book of movies, films, stars, sitcoms, westerns, so much to cover still yet, tons and tons of content to build within our chapters. I hope you continue to support the channel with your views, likes, shares, and comments because it is a slow roll out day by day, short pieces of content actually easier to digest than one long documentary tucked inside our playlists on the channel, I also call the chapters of our worn out book you might find on the spur of the moment at an estate sale. For those of you who came on board especially for the Golden Age of Hollywood reviews, and insights, actors and actresses, I started today the playlist of the 50 episode Golden Age of Hollywood. You will find it on the home page of the channel to go through at your lesiure. Grab a bowl of popcorn and your favorite drink, then cozy up in a chair and ENJOY.

Welcome to The Storyteller’s Compass

Imagine picking up an old book at an estate sale — the kind with a cracked spine, soft pages, and the faint scent of time. You don’t know who owned it before you, but you can feel the lives that passed through its chapters. That’s the spirit of this channel.

Welcome to The Storyteller’s Compass, a place shaped like that well‑worn book… filled with photos, memories, and stories waiting to be rediscovered. My name is Connie, proudly a member of the baby boomer generation, and I’m your guide here at The Storyteller’s Compass.

Today is March 21, 2026, and here in Southern Indiana, we’re inching our way toward spring and summer. The air is still cool, but you can feel the season shifting — the way the light lingers just a little longer each evening. It’s a perfect time to settle in with a warm drink and a good story.

Before we dive into today’s topic, I want to take a moment to welcome all our new subscribers. Truly — I’m so glad you found your way here. And to my steady, faithful subscribers who have been with me from the beginning… thank you. Your support, your comments, your likes, your shares — they help this channel grow one gentle step at a time.

If you love the Golden Age of Hollywood the way I do, you are absolutely in the right place. I have so much more to share with you — movie reviews, behind‑the‑scenes insights, forgotten gems, and the stories of actors and actresses who shaped an era. And right alongside that, we’re building a growing library of Television History, exploring how entertainment shifted from the grand movie palaces to the cozy glow of the living room screen.

Television didn’t replace Hollywood — it expanded the world of storytelling. And I love exploring how those two worlds overlap, influence each other, and continue to shape our culture today.

Right now, I’m going through each year of television history, researching the shows that debuted — some short‑lived, some beloved classics that became part of our daily lives. You’ll find these television episodes scattered throughout the channel in different categories, chapters, and playlists. Think of them as sections of our old book — each one waiting for you to turn the page.

And speaking of chapters… I’m excited to share something new with you today.

I’ve just launched a brand‑new 50‑episode playlist, and like everything else on this channel, it will grow slowly and steadily. This is how I build The Storyteller’s Compass — one small piece at a time, day by day, like adding new pages to that worn‑out book you might stumble upon at an estate sale.

This new playlist is dedicated to The Golden Age of Hollywood — a full 50‑episode journey through the films, stars, studios, and stories that defined the era. If you came to this channel for classic Hollywood — the glamour, the artistry, the nostalgia — this playlist is for you.

You’ll find it right on the home page of the channel, ready for you to explore at your leisure. And I hope you do exactly that: grab a bowl of popcorn, pour your favorite drink, settle into a cozy chair, and enjoy.

This channel is a slow rollout — intentionally so. Short, digestible pieces of content that you can enjoy one at a time, without feeling overwhelmed. Think of them as postcards from the past… little reminders of the magic that shaped our entertainment world.

There is still so much to cover — movies, films, stars, sitcoms, westerns, forgotten treasures, and beloved favorites. And I’m building it all with care, with joy, and with gratitude for each of you who chooses to spend a few minutes of your day here with me.

So welcome — whether you’re brand new or have been here from the beginning. Let’s keep turning the pages of this old book together. There are many more stories waiting to be told.

On the channel page go to:

On the right will appear in a nice vertical column all other videos in that playlist. As you finish viewing the first video, the next video will pop up from that right hand column of videos making it one nice long video viewing experience. At this time, there are over 700 shorts and longer videos to view. The list grows daily and are easily viewed through this one playlist.

If you miss a posting, you can always return to this one playlist "The Storyteller Compass Guide" and find the most recent video added at top of the list.

Sit down sometime with a favorite drink and snack and enjoy all this channel has to offer you. View it as one long movie through this one playlist as videos appear to you one right after another.

Here you’ll find videos about the Golden Age of Hollywood, including classic movie reviews, TV history, behind‑the‑scenes stories, filmmaking techniques, and actor legacy profiles. This channel is dedicated to rediscovering forgotten treasures and celebrating the most beloved films and shows of early Hollywood. The Storyteller’s Compass goes far beyond entertainment. You’ll also find chapters devoted to dog care, cat care, rabbit care, freshwater fish, and bird keeping — practical guides for animal lovers. Other chapters explore Appalachian history, presidential profiles, First Ladies of America, and more U.S. and world history as the channel continues to grow. This playlist is your gateway to explore, revisit, and discover. Whether you’re here for classic cinema, pet care, history, or storytelling itself, there’s always a new chapter waiting. Start exploring The Storyteller’s Compass — your next story begins here.

If you came in through one specific topic that caught your eye, I will have a playlist on board here with other stories and/or content similar to what made you subscribe. For example, one of my newest categories is Fairy Tales Through Film History: Classic Stories Brought to Life on Screen. These short stories will give you an idea of what the longer version film is all about. I am a huge fan of the Fairy Tales. I love the gentle wisdom that comes forth from these centuries years old tales.

Step into a world where timeless fairy tales meet the magic of early filmmaking. In Fairy Tales Through Film History, we explore how classic stories—some centuries old—were transformed by silent cinema, early animation pioneers, and Golden Age storytellers. From Grimm folklore to Hans Christian Andersen’s poetic tales, this series uncovers the artistry, symbolism, and cultural impact behind each adaptation. Along the way, we highlight public‑domain treasures, forgotten shorts, and the filmmakers who shaped the visual language of fantasy. Whether you love vintage animation, classic Hollywood, or the deeper lessons woven into old‑world stories, this journey invites you to rediscover fairy tales through the lens of film history.

Enjoy all the Western videos, dramas, melodramas, TV show reviews and much, much more through this one stop playlist of "The Storyteller's Playlist Guide."

For today's reflection instead of announcing a playlist already in progress, I decided to talk to the community in a playlist of about 26 short videos about Hope & Encouragement for Every Season of Life.

Go to the home tab on The Storyteller's Compass and click on Playlists, then click on the one titled Hope & Encouragement for Every Season of Life. Remember I am building this channel to resemble a book of many chapters. The playlists are the chapters of our book. When you go through the playlists, they will be exactly like going through chapters of a book on video. Don't worry, I am returning to the movie reviews. The chapter of Hope & Encouragement for Every Season of Life is one of those, "this, that and the other" categories.

Our weather in Southern Indiana is slowly improving. As I write this post, it is a balmy 41 degrees, still snow covered areas that will soon be melting away.

I hope everyone in the community is enjoying the channel thus far. If you are not a subscriber, I would be honored if you decided to subscribe. There is so much more to come. I never run out of stories to tell about "something."

  • Known for clashing with directors when he felt a film lacked artistic integrity—more a perfectionist than a rival.

Until next time, stay cozy, stay safe and warm if you are in the colder regions of the world watching this, sit back in your easy chair with a hot cup of coffee, or tea, or any favorite drink and lots of popcorn watching the movies these hard working and extremely talented people left us for entertainment.
